PLICKERS

As we know, all of the teachers want or have to test students. Most of them think that testing is an important part of assessment which can be formative and summative. For this reason, I want to share an application which makes the teachers’ work easy, make testing enjoying for students and make the testing process efficient.  PLICKERS is a mobile application which is free. Only the teachers need to download this applications, students do not.

In order to explain obviously, I want to share the definition in the website: “Plickers is a powerfully simple tool that lets teachers collect real-time formative assessment data without the need for student devices.”

Now, if I attract your attention for Plickers, I will mention about how we will make use of this application. After download the application, you have to add your class on the Classes page by adding the names of each student. For each student, card numbers are assigned automatically by application. These unique cards can be printed out from plickers.com/cards. These cards including QR codes have four different answers in four different sides.

After that, you can add your questions for students by way of the Question Queue from Library.

You can show in the projector in order to be visible for students by pushing Live View page in Plickers.

After asking the question, students raise their card according to their answers. Then, you can open the camera of the application in your devices and scan the responses of the students. With the Check button, you can receive which students select which answer.

If you display classroom results to students, you can use the Live View tab on the website.

Via Question History pages, you can use Scoresheet to monitor student progress and to save grades of them.

I think giving instant feedbacks is an essential part of attributes of this application. Also, students can engage and have fun with this type of testing.
